Job summary

Vaco in Toronto is seeking a Finance Manager for a six-month contract to lead close processes and manage the accounting team. The role focuses on accurate financial reporting and hands-on leadership.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA designation or international equivalent, has IFRS expertise, and demonstrates strong Excel skills. You will drive process improvements and coordinate audits while supporting budgeting and management reporting.

Finance Manager – 6 Month Contract

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and review financial reporting.
• Manage and develop accounting staff, allocate work, and provide hands-on coverage when needed.
• Review journal entries, accruals, account analyses, invoicing, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including collections, payments, and cash application.
• Maintain general ledger integrity, accounting controls, and compliance with policies.
• Coordinate audit support and assist with tax and other reporting requirements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Improve accounting processes and support systems and integration projects.

Must-haves

• CPA designation or recognized international equivalent.
• Prior experience managing an accounting team, with the ability to lead independently from day one.
• Full-cycle month-end and year-end close experience.
• Strong Excel skills.
• At least five years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS, and a willingness to work at both manager and staff level.

Nice-to-haves

• Workday experience, particularly through a system change or migration.
• Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.
• Accounting or finance project experience.
• Sales tax compliance exposure.

Pay Rate

$60.00 / Hour

You must currently reside within the Greater Toronto Area and be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
