Job summary

The City of Kawartha Lakes is seeking a Finance Coordinator (Budget and Financial Planning) to coordinate operating and capital financial matters across departments in Lindsay, Ontario. This permanent full-time role reports to the Supervisor, Budget and Financial Planning and supports annual budgeting, reporting and forecasting activities.

You will develop operating budgets, monitor variances, prepare financial reports, assist with audits and maintain strong internal controls, contributing to

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
• Minimum five years of related progressive experience, preferably in a municipal environment.
• Accounting designation (CGA/CMA/CA) or willingness to obtain.
• Knowledge of GAAP and municipal accounting practices.
• Experience with budgeting, banking and general accounting functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software; valid Ontario driver’s license.
• Criminal Record Check required upon conditional offer.

Responsibilities

• Assist departments with developing annual operating budgets.
• Monitor expenditures and analyze variances with department staff.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly variance analyses.
• Build models and generate internal financial reports for forecasting.
• Balance statistical and accounting reports and support audits.
• Maintain general accounting functions and reconciliations.
