Job summary

Septodont in Cambridge, Ontario, is hiring a Filling Operator to support the production of dental anesthetics. You will follow GMP, operate filling lines, prepare components, and ensure product meets quality standards while maintaining clean, safe work areas.

The role requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years in manufacturing, with mechanical aptitude and strong communication. Shifts include Afternoon, Night, Weekend options with premiums; starting wage $24/hour plus shift premiums.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of one year manufacturing experience; two+ years is an asset.
  • Pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt in changing environments.
  • Ability to work any shift in a 24/7 work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and follows proper gowning procedures and maintains gowning certification.
  • Produces safe, effective and quality products by following approved procedures.
  • Conducts filling line operations that may include preparation of glass and components.
  • Assembling and disassembling of the filling machine.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing of machine parts, accessories and other equipment to prepare for autoclave.
  • Housekeeping of Filling room and area.
  • Load and unload steam autoclave and glass from dry-heat oven.
  • Count the components in filling room as required.
  • Assist with setup and start up, loading and transfer of components.
  • Ensure machine operates efficiently and that the finished product meets quality standards.
  • Inspects for physical defects and other quality infractions and reject defective product according to appropriate SOPs.
  • Removes finished product from the discharge area.
  • Performs IPQC and visual check.
  • Completes Batch Record and logbooks and report any filling problems to supervisor.
  • Informs Lead Hand of any equipment or process-related issues encountered during filling.
  • Follows GMP and regulatory requirements, and ensures quality standards are met.
  • Observes and supports all safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrate the Company Mission, Vision and Values Statements, policies, and current standard business practices.
  • When assigned, inspects, labels and packages filled cartridges according to the appropriate SOP
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Shift Available:
  • Afternoon Shift – Monday to Friday – 2pm to 10pm – Shift Premium $2/hour
  • Night Shift – Sunday to Thursday – 10pm to 6am – Shift Premium $3/hour
  • Weekend Day Shift – Saturday Sunday (6am to 6pm) and Thursday – Friday (6am to 2pm) – Shift Premium $3/hour
  • Weekend Night Shift – Saturday Sunday (6pm to 6am) and Friday and Monday (10pm to 6am) – Shift Premium $5/hour

This position is starting at $24/hour PLUS shift premiums.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada for the duration of employment. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored immigration support.

FUNCTION SUMMARY:

The Filling Operator is accountable to the Production Supervisor for all filling activities relating to the manufacture of dental anesthetics to meet the company’s objectives and in accordance with the requirements outlined in Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturers Practices.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • High school diploma

Experience

  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in a manufacturing environment, however 2 years or more of work experience is considered an asset.
  • Pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic industry experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated mechanical experience or mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to adapt in changing environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and instruction
  • Ability to work any shift in in a 24/7 work environment.
