Summary

The Field Welder will read blueprints, interpret welding symbols, fit pieces, and perform tack and final welds. The focus will be on repairing construction heavy equipment and shoring systems.

Location: Clearway's Job Sites – Greater Toronto Area.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 5:00 pm. Occasional weekends and shift work may be required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints and shop drawings to fit, tack weld, and weld components within tolerances.
• Select appropriate welding equipment, process, filler metal, and shielding gases based on requirements.
• Set up components for welding and cutting according to specifications.
• Operate angle grinders, dye grinders, hand drills, and other small power tools.
• Use calipers, rulers, and measuring tapes for precise measurements.
• Perform welding in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) using SMAW and FCAW.
• Identify and correct welding discontinuities.
• Maintain welding and cutting equipment in safe, quality condition.
• Complete tasks timely, following safety policies and regulations.

Requirements

• Active member in good standing with LiUNA Local 183 or willing to join.
• Minimum 3 years welding experience.
• Current or previous CWB tickets in SMAW and FCAW.
• Ability to pass CWB welding tests in all positions for SMAW and FCAW.
• Experience with GMAW, GTAW, and open root SMAW is an asset.
• Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel using SMAW and FCAW.
• Proficient with electrical power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of safety standards and proper use of protective gear.
