Job summary

Metro Vancouver is seeking an Assistant Project Engineer-EIT (Field Validation) for the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant project based in Burnaby. You will participate in field walks to observe, document and verify construction progress, assist with validation of quantities for concrete, structural steel, excavation, piping and other civil works, and review drawings and records to support takeoffs.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Applied Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
Membership, or eligibility for immediate membership, as an Engineer in Training (EIT) with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to apply them to routine and unique situations.
Strong report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Performs routine engineering and project management tasks, including simple plans, data analysis, and draft reports, ensuring processes and quality standards.
Assists with financial tracking and contract administration.
Performs field work, site inspections, surveys, and construction inspections with progress updates.
Interacts with internal staff, consultants, and government agencies to achieve project objectives.
Contributes to business case development, information gathering, and design plan evaluation.
Prepares and updates project schedules and technical materials, assists with workshops and meetings.
Provides updates to senior staff on task status and project progress.
