Job summary

GEMTEC Consulting Engineers and Scientists Limited. is seeking motivated Field Technicians for contract roles in North Bay or Sudbury, Ontario. Summer/Co‑op positions start May 2026 and require a valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle.

The role includes laboratory and field testing of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt, plus subgrade inspections and supervision of a drill rig. Pay ranges from CAD 21.00 to 25.00 per hour depending on education and experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled or recently completed a College Diploma in civil technology.
• Experience with materials testing and inspection is an asset.
• Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written.

Responsibilities

• Laboratory testing of aggregates, soil and concrete.
• Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates and asphalt.
• Subgrade and foundation inspections.
• Supervising a drill rig.
• Various office, laboratory, and field tasks related to materials testing.
• Other duties as required.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• Currently enrolled or recently completed a College Diploma in civil technology or an equivalent program is considered an asset.

• Laboratory testing of aggregates, soil and concrete.
• Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt.
• Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates and asphalt.
• Subgrade and foundation inspections.
• Supervising a drill rig.
• Various office, laboratory, and field tasks related to materials testing.
• Other duties as required.

Pay Range:

$21.00 - $25.00 CAD per hour
