Job summary

Thompson Construction Group is seeking a Field Survey Lead to support heavy civil, earthworks, mining, and infrastructure projects in the Fort McMurray area. You will lead a survey crew, coordinate field activities, and ensure accurate data collection and staking.

The successful candidate has 3+ years in GPS-based construction layout, proficiency with Trimble/TOPCON, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and strong communication skills. Valid driver’s license and CSO certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in GPS-based construction layout (Trimble or TOPCON).
• Proficient in reading and using DTM surfaces, DXF files and data collectors.
• Solid understanding of staking for roads, pads and ponds.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre or Terramodel.
• Strong multitasking, time management and organizational skills.
• Diploma in Geomatic or Civil Engineering Technology is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Energy Safety Canada CSO Certification.
• Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive and First Aid assets.
• Must be physically fit and pass a pre-access drug/alcohol test.
