Job summary

Toromont Cat Power Systems is seeking Field Service Technicians to diagnose and repair Caterpillar power systems on customer sites in Moncton, NB. This full-time role offers hands-on work with gensets, diesel engines and related controls, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Ideal candidates have post-secondary training in diesel or electronics, and experience with high-voltage systems, switchgear, and PLCs.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in diesel engines, electronics, marine engines or industrial mechanics.
• Experience repairing generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines or heavy equipment.
• Experience with switchgear and transfer switches; familiarity with AC voltages up to 13.8kV.
• Knowledge of control systems, PLCs and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gensets, industrial engines, marine engines and related equipment.
• Diagnose issues on customer sites and provide detailed service reports.
• Operate testing equipment and interpret wiring diagrams to service equipment.
• Ensure safety guidelines and quality standards are followed on all jobs.
• Submit time cards and service reports promptly.

Description

The Field Service Technicians, Power Systems (Generators & Diesel Engines) will work on our customer sites to safely and effectively diagnose and repair Caterpillar Power Systems in a timely manner while maintaining extremely high standards and ensuring positive customer experiences.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Compensation: 45$ - 47$/ Hr

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Perform allreasonable steps and precautions to guarantee Toromont’s Health and Safety Guidelines are followed by sub-contractors
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on gensets, industrial engines, marine engines, controls and other auxiliary equipment, such as Automatic Transfer Switches, Switchgear and Uninterruptible Power Supplies
• Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and mechanical repairs on engines and generators in both the shop and on customer sites
• Perform basic troubleshooting for all equipment and provide detailed service reports and recommendations on repairs and upgrades
• Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibrating equipment to diagnose and service equipment
• Interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Submit accurate service reports, time cards and other required paperwork in a timely manner
• Operate and connect load banks in a test environment
• Demonstrate safe and healthy work behaviors and practices at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives

Must-haves for this role:

• Post Secondary education in a field related to diesel engines, electronics engineer, marine engine mechanics, industrial mechanics or equivalent
• Experience in the repair on generators, gensets, diesel engines, marine engines or related heavy equipment
• Experience working with AC voltages from 600V to 13.8kV, including motor control centers and switchgears
• Experience working on switchgear and/or transfer switches
• Experience with control systems, PLCs and Instrumentation
