Job summary

BearCom is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician to install and support wireless communications systems for public safety and enterprise clients. You will install, program, and test equipment, advise on system designs, and ensure optimal performance across UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz networks.

The role requires a strong electronics background, RF theory proficiency, and hands-on experience with test equipment. Travel and on-call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Service Technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in the two-way radio wireless field.
• Extensive knowledge of two-way radio theory, RF propagation across frequency bands.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Create high-level programming codeplugs (e.g. P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, Repeaters).
• Install and service complex wireless systems (UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz, dispatch consoles, BDA/DAS, microwave, CCTV).
• Provide system recommendations and designs meeting customer requirements.
• Some regional and/or overnight travel and on-call hours may be required.

Job Description

As a Senior Field Service Technician with BearCom, you will be responsible for the installation and support of wireless communications systems, including complex radio systems for public safety and enterprise customers.

Our Technicians are the heart of every service location, and we rely on their expertise in the delivery of the best service and solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service and possess the technical ability to create imaginative solutions that meet and exceed the most challenging customer needs.

• Create High-Level Programming Codeplugs (e.g. P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, Repeaters)

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge/understanding of 2-way radio theory, RF propagation characteristics at various frequency bands and communications systems.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multi-couplers and duplexers, basic TCP/IP principles and NIC programming.
• Proficiency in operating various test equipment including but not limited to, spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDR’s, FDR’s, and multi-meters.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Candidates must possess clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent.
• R56 Certified Installer
• Motorola Astro 4x-7x training providing support for various system operations.
• Certification in various MotoTRBO products and systems (Connect+, Capacity+, Linked Capacity+, IP Site Connect, Capacity Max, etc.)
• Knowledge of audio, RF, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits found in communications equipment at the component level.
• Security Clearance a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Drug screenings and background checks are part of the hiring process, which may also include a Motor Vehicle Record check.
