Job summary

BearCom Canada Corp. is seeking a Senior Field Service Technician to install and support wireless communications systems for public safety and enterprise clients in Toronto and surrounding areas.

You will create codeplugs, install complex radio networks, and recommend designs that meet customer needs. Expect regional travel and on-call hours as part of the role.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of service technician experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in the 2-way radio wireless field.
• Extensive knowledge of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation across frequency bands.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Create High-Level Programming Codeplugs (e.g. P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, Repeaters).
• Install and service complex wireless systems (UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz, dispatch consoles, DAS, CCTV).
• Provide system recommendations and designs to meet customer requirements.
• Some regional/overnight travel and on-call hours may be required.

Job Description

As a Senior Field Service Technician with BearCom, you will be responsible for the installation and support of wireless communications systems, including complex radio systems for public safety and enterprise customers.

The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service and possess the technical ability to create imaginative solutions that meet and exceed the most challenging customer needs.

• Create High-Level Programming Codeplugs (e.g. P25, Linked CAP+, CAP MAX, Repeaters)
• Install and Service Complex Wireless Communications Systems (e.g. UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz Systems, Dispatch Consoles, BDA/DAS Systems, Microwave Systems, Wireless Broadband Devices, CCTV Equipment)
• Provide System Recommendations and Designs That Meet Customer Requirements
• Some regional and/or overnight travel and on-call hours may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Electronics Background
• Experience in Diagnosing, Repairing, Programming, and Installing RF Equipment
• Possesses Complex Understanding of Two-Way Radio Theory and RF Propagation Characteristics at Various Frequency Bands
• Familiar With RF Design and Engineering
• Proficient Operating Test Equipment (Communications Service Monitors, Wattmeters, TDRs, FDRs, Multimeters)
• IP Networking Experience
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Must Have Valid Driver's License
• Drug Screenings, Motor Vehicle Record, and Background Checks Part of the Hiring Process

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Service Technician experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in the 2-way radio wireless and /or communication field.
• Extensive knowledge/understanding of 2-way radio theory, RF propagation characteristics at various frequency bands and communications systems.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multi-couplers and duplexers, basic TCP/IP principles and NIC programming.
• Proficiency in operating various test equipment including but not limited to, spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDR’s, FDR’s, and multi-meters.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Candidates must possess clean driving record and valid driver’s license.
• CET Certification
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent.
• R56 Certified Installer
• Motorola Astro 4x-7x training providing support for various system operations.
• Certification in various Astro 25 products (Quantar, GTR8000, MCC5500/7500, etc.).
• Certification in various MotoTRBO products and systems (Connect+, Capacity+, Linked Capacity+, IP Site Connect, Capacity Max, etc.).
• Knowledge of audio, RF, digital, and microprocessor electronic circuits found in communications equipment at the component level.
• Security Clearance a plus.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Drug screenings and background checks are part of the hiring process, which may also include a Motor Vehicle Record check.
