Compensation Range: $52,100 - $77,900

Job Purpose
The Field Service Technician plans and coordinates activities related to installing equipment, investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems, and eliminating future operational or service difficulties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair equipment, including installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of batteries, chargers, and DC power distribution equipment.
- Interact with all levels of people, both inside and outside the company.
- Develop and conduct training on safe equipment operation, demonstrating skills to trainees, including team members and customers.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and record data.
- Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts.
- Diagnose and repair battery charging equipment.
- Build batteries in the shop when required.
- Remove and disassemble cells, inspect parts, and fill cells with acid solution, checking specific gravity as needed.
- Wash, clean, and neutralize batteries at customer locations.
- Operate material handling equipment per OSHA requirements.
- Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities.
- Perform inspections, analyze findings, and recommend repairs or replacements.
- Coordinate problem resolution with technical support and other personnel.
- Provide on-site technical assistance for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain records of performance reports.
- Provide communication between the customer and the company to ensure effective service.
- Download battery and charger data and use it for troubleshooting.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000 standards.
Qualifications
To succeed as a Field Service Technician, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- 1-2 years of industry-related experience or equivalent technical education and experience.
- Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical and business documents.
- Basic math skills including algebra and geometry.
- Must complete Enersys Canada Inc. Service Representative Training Course within 6-12 months and forklift training.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record; must be at least 25 years old to drive a company vehicle.
- Strong organizational skills and professionalism.
- Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
- Ability to operate various company vehicles safely.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, perform long periods of standing, and perform physical tasks such as bending and reaching.
- Willingness to wear PPE, work overtime, and work varying schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Awareness of risks associated with electrical shock and exposure to harmful materials, with adherence to safety protocols.

This role involves working in plant/warehouse environments with exposure to fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and varying weather conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
