Job summary

Sofina Foods Inc. in Abbotsford seeks a Field Service Representative to provide accurate poultry management information and technology to industry stakeholders and colleagues in the Field Service Team.

The role leads liaising with industry groups to deliver the right product for our processors (customers). A B.Sc. in Animal and Poultry Science and a Class 5 driver’s license are required, with MS Office proficiency essential.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point).
  • A detailed understanding of agricultural research techniques and ability to relate scientific findings to practical applications is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical information and support to producers with key issues during the production period of raw poultry (brooding, ventilation, lighting programs, water management, feed management, sanitation, grow-out, feed withdrawal, vaccines).
  • Maintain producer data and records throughout the grow-out period to ensure customers have product information.
  • Communicate with customers on service calls, farm visits and information transfer; provide farm visit updates and schedules.
  • Review production data with producers and make recommendations to improve product quality.
  • Inform facilities and hatchery of product quality and inform the plant of expected quality.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Live Procurement & Field Service, t he Field Service Representative is accountable to provide accurate, leading-edge information and technology on poultry management to industry stakeholders, the research community, co-workers and peers in the Field Service Team. Position takes a lead role and liaises with industry and stakeholder groups in providing the right product for our processors (customers).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Accountable for providing technical information and support to producers with key issues that arise within the production period of raw poultry (brooding, ventilation, lighting programs, water management, feed management, sanitation, grow-out, feed withdrawal, vaccines). Maintain effective relationships, innovative and advanced services for both turkey and broiler farms;
  • Accountable to keep job related records and producer data base. Keep adequate and sufficient data on each producer throughout the grow-out period to ensure that customers have product information;
  • Accountable to maintain a high level of regular communication. Provide farm visit updates and schedules to the Sr. Field Service Representative. Communicate with assigned customers on service calls, farm visits and information transfer;
  • Accountable to review production data. Review results with producers and make recommendations to improve product quality;
  • Accountable to inform facilities of quality issues. Inform the hatchery of the quality of products produced by the hatchery. Inform the plant of the quality of product they will be receiving.

Requirements:

  • A B.Sc. (Ag) in Animal and Poultry Science or a related degree. An equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered;
  • Class 5 drivers licence. Provide and maintain a clean Drivers Abstract;
  • A detailed understanding of agricultural research techniques and ability to relate scientific findings to practical applications is essential;
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point).
