Job summary

Sandvik Mining in British Columbia is hiring a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic for surface mining equipment. The role includes troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance, plus commissioning new equipment and on-site training at customer sites.

You will work on hydraulic and electrical systems, read schematics, and travel across Canada as required. The position follows a 14-14 FIFO schedule and requires a valid driver''s license and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Red Seal certification is considered an asset.
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Valid driver''s license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic

Location: British Columbia/Alberta

Schedule: 14-14 fly-in fly-out (subject to change)

Currently, we have an opening for a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic. At Sandvik, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical aspects of surface mining equipment and components according to defined specifications. The Field Service Technician (Underground) is also responsible for new equipment commissioning and training at customer sites.

What you will be doing

• Inspecting equipment for proper performance and determine faults and malfunctions.
• Adjusting equipment & repairing/replacing defective parts, components, or systems according to the scope of work.
• Testing repaired equipment to ensure proper operational performance.
• Commissioning new equipment.
• Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Completing accurate time records, technical reports, failure reports, and parts lists.
• Staying current with the industry, customers, product developments and technical best practices.
• Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

• Maintain hand tools and equipment to support safe operation.

• Wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required for each task.

What you will bring along

• Relevant trade certification (red seal is considered an asset).
• At least 3 years related experience with mining equipment is considered an asset.
• Previous experience with equipment would be an asset.
• Common Core training is considered an asset.
• Excellent proficiency in reading hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with mining equipment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office).
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to local mine sites and across Canada as required.
• Ability and willingness to work varied shifts (as required)
• Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
