Job summary

Canoco Group is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support our civil construction operations. You will promote a safe work environment, ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and support safety policy implementation across project sites.

Previous experience in civil construction or industrial environments is valued. You should be comfortable in the field, engaging with crews, promoting a positive safety culture, and traveling to project sites as required.

Qualifications

• NCSO certification required.
• CRSP designation required.
• Experience in construction safety required, preferably civil/industrial environments.
• Experience with earthworks, underground utilities, municipal infrastructure, or land development is an asset.
• Strong knowledge of Alberta OH&S legislation and industry standards.
• Experience conducting site inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with field personnel and management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and promote compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and OH&S regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
• Provide safety guidance and support to supervisors, employees, and subcontractors.
• Lead and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; complete reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Review and maintain FLHAs, safe work procedures, and safety documentation.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with site safety requirements.
• Assist with development and implementation of safety programs and initiatives.
• Collaborate with project managers to improve safety practices.
• Maintain accurate safety records, inspection reports, and training documentation.
