McCain Foods is seeking a Field Representative for the Carberry/Portage la Prairie area in Manitoba. You will work with growers to improve crop quality, food safety, and supply alignment with production schedules, supporting McCain's operations across Manitoba.

About The Role.

Reporting to the Field Manager, the Field Representative for the Carberry / Portage la Prairie, Manitoba area will collaborate with a team of agricultural professionals to drive innovative ideas and implement new technologies in support of continuous improvement goals.

This position works closely with growers to develop best practices, identify potential potato quality issues, and partner with the Operations team to align raw material requirements with the production schedule, ensuring the right raw materials are delivered at the right time. The Field Representative plays a key role in supporting grower success, crop quality, food safety, and a reliable supply of potatoes to McCain operations in Manitoba.

What You’ll Be Doing.
  • Foster strong relationships with grower partners that support mutual business growth and success.
  • Conduct regular field and storage inspections to monitor crop development, product quality, environmental conditions, and food safety compliance.
  • Partner with the North America Agriculture Food Safety team to implement and maintain farm-level food safety programs.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement related to crop production, quality, sustainability, and food safety.
  • Collect, analyze, and report potato crop data and field activity information from contracted growers.
  • Retrieve field and storage samples as required throughout the production season.
  • Maintain grower records related to seed, crop protection products, fertility programs, irrigation practices, and other agronomic information.
  • Support growers in adopting new technologies, digital tools, and innovative agricultural practices.
  • Utilize databases and reporting tools to support decision-making and achieve raw potato supply objectives.
  • Collaborate with operations and cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and production requirements.
  • Participate in local and national agricultural meetings, industry events, and professional development opportunities.
  • Champion McCain's safety culture in all work environments.
  • Support Agriculture strategic initiatives, including variety development, agronomy programs, and cost optimization projects.
  • Assist with scheduling support and provide weekend or holiday coverage when required.
  • Coordinate raw material deliveries and adapt to changing business needs and production schedules.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful.
  • Associate degree and/or equivalent field experience required; degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agronomy, or a related field preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in agriculture, food manufacturing, agronomy, or quality assurance.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with growers, cross-functional teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of GPS, mobile technologies, and agricultural software applications; GIS and remote sensing experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe work practices.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Carberry and Portage la Prairie region and to other McCain locations as required.

The Manitoba Agriculture team partners closely with local potato growers to deliver high-quality raw materials that support McCain's manufacturing operations. As part of a collaborative team of agriculture professionals, this role works across grower relations, agronomy, food safety, and operations to drive continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainable growth throughout the region.

Compensation Package: $65,500.00 - $87,400.00 . CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility
