Job summary

McGill University is seeking a part-time Farm Assistant for the Macdonald Campus Farm/Horticulture Centre to carry out general farm duties, including land preparation, planting, pruning, some tractor work, harvesting, and sales at Mac Market. Data collection from research plots will also be required under the supervision of the Chief Horticulture Technician.

Requirements include a High School Diploma; English proficiency is expected. Driver's license is considered an asset.

Qualifications

• Previous work in horticulture is an asset.
• Driver’s license is an asset.
• High School Diploma with minimal or no related experience.

Responsibilities

• General farm duties including land preparation, rock picking, seeding and transplanting.
• Pruning, hoeing, and some tractor work as needed.
• Harvesting fruits and vegetables and selling at Mac Market.
• Data collection from research plots and other duties as assigned by the Chief Horticulture Technician.
