Job summary

Thurber Engineering Ltd. seeks a Construction Materials Field Technician for our Calgary, Alberta team. The role requires field-based testing and inspection across infrastructure projects, with travel to local and remote sites.

A CCIL/CSA certificate and a valid Class 5 license are required, along with strong English communication skills. Three or more years of field experience and the ability to lift 25 kg are essential.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of field-based work in construction monitoring and materials testing.
• Concrete testing certificate (CCIL/CSA) required.
• Valid Class 5 driver license; ability to travel and lift 25 kg.
• Strong organizational and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction inspection and quality control/testing for infrastructure projects.
• Conduct field compaction testing of soils.
• Carry out construction inspection and field concrete testing per CCIL/CSA requirements.
• Monitor pile construction for driven steel and cast-in-place piles.
• Communicate results and observations to clients, contractors and project engineers.
