Job summary

Siemens Canada is seeking an Electrical Apprentice (2nd–5th Year) to support electrical installation, commissioning and service at customer sites. You will work with experienced technicians on building automation, energy management, fire and security systems.

Requires a high school diploma and enrollment in an Electrical Apprenticeship; 2+ years of hands-on installation experience preferred; valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region.

  • Technical training in electrical systems is an asset.
  • Currently registered in recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program (2nd–5th Year).

What will you do?

Are you a registered Electrical Apprentice in your 2nd to 5th Year, looking to build your career with a global technology leader? We are seeking a motivated Electrical Apprentice with hands‑on electrical installation experience who is eager to learn and develop expertise in building automation, energy management, fire, and security systems. In this role, you will work alongside experienced technicians and project teams, gaining exposure to cutting‑edge technologies while supporting installation, commissioning, and service activities at customer sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Electrical Installation & Technical Support
  • You will perform or assist with installation and checkout of electric and electronic components for systems and service installed jobs and service agreements associated with automatic building control systems and energy management systems. May assist in emergency troubleshooting of systems.
  • You will be expected to install or assist with the installation of conduit, wire, cable, equipment, components and devices associated with fire, security, and energy management systems.
  • Install and mount electric/ electronic controls, devices, panels, sensors, and components.
  • Perform interlock wiring as required. Perform wiring check out and assist with systems start‑up. Perform tasks related to the panel fabrication.
  • Disconnect and dismantle electric/ electronic instruments, panels, sensors, components, as required.
  • Coordinate with or advise supervision about the requirements for material and supplies to ensure timely delivery to the job site.
Documentation, Tools & Operational Support
  • Complete required documentation, service reports, and checklists accurately and on time.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, and project teams to meet customer and project requirements.
What will you need to succeed?
Education & Training:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in electrical systems, electronics, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Currently registered in a recognized Electrical Apprenticeship Program and progressing through apprenticeship training (2nd Year, 3rd Year, 4th Year, or 5th Year Apprentice).
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on electrical installation and trade experience in commercial, industrial, construction, building automation, or related environments.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, conduit installation, and electrical safety practices.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, or supporting electrical systems and equipment is considered an asset.
Technical & Physical Requirements:
  • Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn building automation, energy management, fire, and security systems.
  • Must be physically able to climb, work at heights, and work in confined spaces as required.
  • Must be able to distinguish various colored electrical wiring and components.
  • Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment (up to approximately 50-75 lbs. without assistance as needed).
Additional Requirements:
  • Valid and unrestricted Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent) required to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program and operate a company vehicle for travel to customer sites within the assigned region.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required local certifications, licences, and site‑specific safety training.
