Job summary

Aecon is hiring a Field Heavy-Duty Technician based in Alberta, with the role primarily performing field maintenance and repairs on earthmoving and paving equipment at project sites and locations around Medicine Hat. You’ll work under the Shop Foreperson, ensuring safety, diagnostics, and timely service.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyperson Red Seal as a Heavy Equipment Technician, 3+ years of relevant experience, and a valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience.
• Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Valid class 5 driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol program, including testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety policies and regulations are followed at project sites and field locations.
• Perform preventative maintenance procedures and repairs per OEM standards or company guidance.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic problems using diagnostic equipment.
• Read diagrams and repair manuals to determine proper work procedures.
• Safely operate hoists, lifting devices, service equipment, and tools to repair machinery.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports and work orders.
• Travel to project sites and work at field locations as required.
