Job summary

Na̱mǥis First Nation in Alert Bay, BC is seeking a Guardian to oversee forestry, recreation and lands under the Director of Natural Resources. The NR Stewardship Technician will perform field activities, collect data and contribute to rights and title initiatives.

This full-time, on-site role requires outdoor endurance, strong communication, and safe operation of vessels and equipment. SVOP, MED, First Aid, and Swiftwater Rescue are required.

Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Namgis culture.
  • Ability to work in challenging marine and wilderness environments.

Responsibilities

  • Positively representing Namgis to members and external audiences.
  • Data collection and reporting for field activities (surveys, brood stock, egg-takes).
  • Physical and biological assessments and sampling.
  • Community relations and education.
  • Ensure safe operation/maintenance of vessels, ATVs, trucks, and gear.
  • Assist new/temporary staff and support the NR Director as needed.
