Job summary

Veolia North America, LLC is hiring a Field Engineering Intern to join a strong technical service team. You will work on industrial water treatment projects, gaining hands-on experience with system drawings, on-site testing, and process optimization.

This 12–16 month co-op starts May 2027, with full-time hours and a collaborative work environment. You will support reporting, inventory management, and field checks while developing engineering skills in a real-world setting.

Qualifications

  • Rising junior or senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering or chemistry field.
  • Experience with basic chemistry tasks and lab instruments is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced field environment and collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Generate system drawings and PFDs for manuals and proposals.
  • Conduct wet testing in laboratory on water samples.
  • Monitor process equipment performance via online tools.
  • Assist with monthly reporting requirements.
  • Manage bulk chemical inventory and assist with ordering.
  • Perform field checks on process equipment (flow, pH, conductivity).
  • Collaborate with supervisors on equipment optimization opportunities.

Job Description

As the Field Engineering Intern you will be joining a strong technical service environment. In this role, you will have an opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals within the field of industrial water treatment. You will gain exposure supporting water treatment systems and assist the organization in achieving its annual goals and objectives as an active participant.

This is a full-time, 12-16 month co-op, with an anticipated start date in May 2027.

Nature Of Work
  • Generate system drawings, PFDs, for use in on-site manuals and proposals
  • Conduct wet testing in laboratory on water samples
  • Actively monitor process equipment performance through online tools
  • Assist in completing monthly reporting requirements
  • Manage bulk chemical inventory and assist with ordering chemical products as required
  • Perform field checks on process equipment (flows, pH, conductivity, chemical residuals, etc.)
  • Work with supervisors on plant equipment optimization opportunities
Qualifications
  • Experience performing basic chemical tasks such as titrations, pH & conductivity measurements, and using other simple chemistry lab instruments
  • Basic mechanical skills to help troubleshoot chemical feed equipment
  • Computer skills - use of Microsoft Office, Visio, and online data Management
  • Strong teamwork & communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain deliverables in a fast-paced work environment
  • Full-time availability for 12-16 months starting May/June 2027
Education
  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry

Compensation
  • The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $24.72-$27.30 CAD.
