Job summary

Schlumberger Limited in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a Field Engineer Trainee to support ESP systems installation, startup, and troubleshooting at customer sites across Western Canada. This field-based role offers hands-on training, safety-focused culture, and exposure to artificial lift operations.

You will work with experienced field personnel, learn to apply engineering principles, and develop practical skills in maintenance, fault finding, and service documentation while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering is required (or in-progress).
  • 0–3 years of relevant internship, co-op, or field experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors in varied weather.

Responsibilities

  • Support the installation, retrieval, start‑up, and troubleshooting of Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) systems.
  • Apply engineering principles to support field operations and resolve technical challenges at customer sites.
  • Monitor equipment performance and assist in identifying opportunities to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with field specialists, customers, and rig crews to ensure safe and successful execution of wellsite operations.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, technical guidelines, and safety requirements to deliver high‑quality service.
  • Assist with equipment inspections, maintenance activities, and operational readiness of field equipment.
  • Complete accurate field documentation, technical reports, and service records in a timely manner.
  • Identify operational risks and contribute to a strong safety culture in all activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation of new technologies and processes.
  • Develop technical and operational expertise through structured training, mentorship, and field assignments.
