Job summary

Stantec is expanding its team of field archaeologists in Canada, seeking entry- to intermediate-level candidates for contract roles with potential renewal and advancement to full-time positions. The roles involve travel across BC and Ontario, field data collection, and collaboration with Indigenous communities.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Anthropology or Archaeology, willingness to learn, and a strong safety mindset; some field school or consulting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Interest in cultural resource management and archaeology.
• Willingness to learn identification of traditional use sites, features, and lithic artifacts.
• Willingness to learn mapping, pedestrian surveys, subsurface testing and data collection.
• Experience in Cultural Resource Management is not required but would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential and traditional use sites.
• Work with Field Director to make technical recommendations for cultural resources management.
• Engage with Indigenous representatives and stakeholders.
• Collect field data and participate in preliminary surveys and impact assessments.
• Assist in archaeological monitoring and excavations.
• Manage field equipment and adhere to HSSE programs.
