Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking an entry- to intermediate-level field archaeologist to support projects across BC and Ontario.

The role is contract with potential for renewal and advancement to regular full-time positions for the right candidate. Responsibilities include identifying archaeological potential, field data collection, and collaboration with Indigenous communities, while staying aligned with Stantec’s HSSE standards.

Qualifications

• Interest in cultural resource management.
• Willingness to learn identification of traditional use sites and lithic artifacts.
• Willingness to learn mapping, pedestrian surveys, subsurface testing, excavation, data collection.
• Fieldwork requires safety awareness and ability to work away from home for up to 2 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Identify and record areas of archaeological potential and traditional use sites.
• Collaborate with Field Director to recommend cultural resources management actions.
• Engage with Indigenous representatives and stakeholders.
• Collect field data and conduct preliminary surveys and impact assessments.
• Assist in monitoring and excavations and manage field equipment.
• Adhere to company HSSE policies and participate in safety programs.
