Job summary

Brandt in Ottawa is seeking a Field Truck and Coach Technician to join our Peterbilt Dealership. You will repair and maintain truck and coach equipment in a field environment, diagnosing issues, ordering parts, and performing tests to ensure safe operation.

The ideal candidate is a Certified Journeyperson with strong mechanical and electrical skills, capable of working with engineers and branch personnel, and able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyperson in Truck and Coach trade or equivalent designation.
• Experience with CAT, CUMMINs and PACCAR engines is an asset.
• Experience with electrical diagnosis/troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems is an asset.
• Previous mechanical experience in a shop environment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently evaluate working condition, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts, and repair on-road equipment.
• Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems.
• Document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time spent.
• Assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely to standards.
• Use computer applications to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis.
• Collaborate with equipment engineers to diagnose and fulfill warranty requirements.
• Use parts catalogues to locate and order parts.

We are currently seeking a Field Truck and Coach Technician join our Peterbilt Dealership in Ottawa, ON. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Truck and Coach based equipment and attachments in a field environment.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
• Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
• Use computer applications and information systems to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
• Work with equipment engineers to diagnose and fulfill warranty requirements
• Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
• Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
• Other duties as assigned

What We Look For

• Certified Journeyperson in the Truck and Coach technician trade or equivalent designated trade considered an asset
• Experience in CAT, CUMMINs and PACCAR engines considered an asset
• Experience with electrical diagnosis /troubleshooting and aftertreatment systems considered an asset
• Previous mechanical experience in a shop environment is considered an asset.
• Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
• Must have the ability to communicate and work effectively with equipment engineers, the service team, and branch personnel.
• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems
• Proven computer/ technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work
• Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs
• Strong time-management skills to perform effectively under pressure
• Strong communication skills, showing an appreciation of customer needs
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
