Fiber Construction Inspector. As a Fiber Construction Inspector, you will serve as an integral member of our construction team. Summary
The Construction Inspector will be responsible for supporting the project management team of construction activities for aerial, buried & underground fiber optic cable facilities. Must communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, drafters, and administrative personnel to ensure that projects are successfully completed on time.
Responsibilities:
- Support management of construction activities for aerial, buried & underground fiber optic cable facilities in both office and field environments.
- Work on-site daily with crews in varied weather conditions.
- Ensure correct depths, placement, sequential numbering (every two feet), and proper installation of pedestals/handholes at designated locations.
- Measure and record installed quantities regularly, coordinating with multiple crews.
- Manage and uphold quality standards per project specifications.
- Operate and maintain field equipment such as GNSS surveying units, laptops, height sticks, cameras, PPE, etc.
- Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, drafters, and administrative staff.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed.
- Identify construction conflicts or proposed changes and develop solutions with design engineers and project managers.
- Provide quality control to ensure adherence to construction and engineering standards.
- Interact with landowners, permit agencies, and other departments.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Availability to mobilize as scheduled; valid driver’s license and a clean MVR (7 years).
- Ability to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.
- Self-managed with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Physical capability to stand, bend, squat, walk, lift (>20lb), and carry equipment throughout the workday.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications, electrical distribution, engineering principles, and standards is a plus.
- Ability to read schematics, maps, and work prints.
- Experience with GIS, CAD, or LiDar is advantageous but not required.
- Excellent communication, organizational skills, integrity, and team orientation.
- Ability to suggest improvements in field processes positively.
- Keep project managers informed about project status, constructability issues, and client relations.
- Travel up to 80% required.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
