Job summary

Fort McMurray Catholic Schools is seeking a half-time Educational Assistant (EA 2) to support ECS students at Father Beauregard. The role is 12.5–15.5 hours per week with an ASAP start and a closing date of September 22, 2026.

A Criminal Reference Check is required. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of teachers and the multi-disciplinary team, implementing literacy/numeracy support, behaviour strategies, and student supervision while ensuring safety and positive student

Qualifications

• Educational Assistant Certificate or Diploma is required.
• Experience supporting cognition, communication, physical and social development.
• Ability to implement teacher-directed programming and collaborate with the team.

Responsibilities

• Support students' growth in cognition, communication, physical and social development.
• Support and/or implement teacher-directed programming.
• Collaborate with teacher, CST and multi-disciplinary team under guidance.
• Implement specialist strategies (OT, PT, SLP) to help achieve goals.
• Assist with literacy and numeracy development.
• Assist with toileting routines if required.
• Communicate effectively with students using positive reinforcement and behavior strategies.
• Provide indoor and outdoor supervision as directed.

Requirements

• Support students' growth in the areas of cognition, communication, physical and social development
• Support and/or implement teacher directed programming
• Work collaborative under guidance of teacher, CST and other member of the multi-disciplinary team
• Implement specialist (OT, PT, SLP, etc) strategies to achieve required goals
• Able to work with student to implement and support literacy/numeracy
• Toileting routines if required
• Communicate effectively with students using age appropriate positive reinforcements and/or school specific behaviour strategies
• Work and play at student's physical level of their activities
• Swim program, if required
• Physically handle and transfer students when unsafe
• Physical ability to lift and move students
• Provide school directed indoor and outdoor student supervision

Employee is expected to work with behaviours related/associated with conduct, obsessive/compulsive, trauma and stress related, severe chronic depressive, feeding and/or eating disorders etc. Other behaviours related to ADHD, emotional/behavioural, learning and speech & language-related disabilities, etc may be encountered.
