Job summary

Eagle Heart Centre Inc. is seeking a Family Support Worker to provide intensive, hands-on support to children, youth and families via supervised visits and in-home services. You will advocate, document and follow up based on ministry case plans, working with a multidisciplinary team in a trauma-informed, culturally safe environment.

The role emphasizes building parental capacity, promoting child safety, and supporting safe reunification where possible, within a high-volume family-focused setting.

Job description

Eagle Heart Centre Inc. is dedicated to providing strength-based support and services to empower families, children and youth toward a healthy lifestyle in the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspect of life.

Position:

The Family Support Worker provides intensive, hands-on support to children, youth, and families through supervised family time, in-home services, advocacy, and follow-up based on Ministry of Social Services case plans. The role is designed to promote child safety, build parental capacity, and support safe and timely reunification whenever possible. The FSW works as part of a multidisciplinary team and is expected to balance direct service delivery, accurate documentation, and collaboration with Child Protection Workers, internal colleagues, and community partners. Services are delivered in a manner that is culturally safe, trauma-informed, and strength-based, reflecting Eagle Heart Centre’s values and universal competencies.

Education:

Grade 12; post-secondary or equivalent, post - secondary certificate/degree in Human Services, Youth Care, Social Work, Indigenous Studies or related field would be an asset. Education and experience working with children, families or in a human services environment an asset. Demonstrated facilitation or coaching experience, particularly in family support, group work, parent education, or behavioural intervention is considered a strong asset.

Qualifications:
  • Commitment to Eagle Heart Centre’s mission, vision, and values, with strong cultural safety
    and trauma-informed practice.
  • Working knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act, child protection issues, foster care
    policies, and related legislation.
  • Awareness of domestic violence, addictions, and child development, including pre- and postnatal care considerations.
  • Clear and respectful communication skills for engaging families, staff, and ministry partners.
  • Ability to mentor and support monitors through feedback, coaching, and on-the-floor training.
  • Strong organizational skills, with accuracy in reporting and proficiency in Microsoft Office and
    scheduling databases.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and elevate issues appropriately.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and adaptability in a high-volume, family-focused environment.
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Current Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector).
  • Valid Driver’s License and insurable vehicle an asset.
