Job description

The Family Resource Network Program Support Worker is part of Strathcona County’s Family and Community Services (FCS) department, which implements prevention and early intervention social support programs to address community social challenges and opportunities.

This position assists in planning, organizing, and implementing a blended service continuum of supports, resources, programs, and community engagement activities for young children, their parents (including expectant parents), caregivers, the community, and service providers.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist the Child and Family Wellbeing branch in planning and implementing community-based programs and supports for children, youth, and adults.
• Promote social inclusion, a sense of belonging, and participatory engagement in programs.
• Respond to inquiries about program activities and community information, ensuring participants and walk-ins receive timely services and are treated with respect and confidentiality.
• Provide accurate information about FCS programs and community resources, using discretion and judgment to evaluate issues requiring immediate attention and directing individuals to appropriate resources or staff.
• Support food-related programs such as WECAN, Food Pantry, and kitchen-based activities.
• Organize supplies, materials, and resources, and manage program supply inventory.
• Prepare, clean, and organize program materials, resources, and kits / bins as per staff requests.
• Assist with general office duties, including welcoming participants, wayfinding, answering phones, and supporting data entry.
• Support program setup in indoor and outdoor locations, including lifting and maneuvering materials, equipment, and furniture.
