Type of Position: Permanent, Part-Time, On Call

Hours of Work: Physicians must be available during the daytime Mon-Fri. After-hours calls are part of a shared after-hours care program (physicians On Call).

Qualifications, Education and Skills

Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) License. Full Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) certification is mandatory.

Role and Facility Information

Now is the time to augment your practice with a long-term care (LTC) panel, providing diverse and impactful care for the frail elderly. LTC panels are permanent, part-time placements for family physicians.

• Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Care Initiative (LTCI), which includes paid mentorship, shared after-hours care, and involvement in LTC-specific events and projects. LTCI requires meeting five best practice expectations: regular proactive visits, on-site medication reviews, care conference attendance, involvement in 24/7 on-call, and thorough documentation.
• Develop skills in caring for the elderly, transferable to community and hospital settings.
• Flexible scheduling to complement other family practice work, with care home leadership setting panel size and availability.

Remuneration

LTC panels are remunerated via the LFP model or fee-for-service. Additional payments for LTCI participants include:

• $1,000 for weekday after-hours shifts
• $1,400 for weekend shifts
• Payments for mentorship, events, and quality improvement activities.

Care Home Information

Arbutus Care Centre is a 156-bed long-term care home supported by LTCI practitioners. An additional practitioner is needed to assist with the resident caseload. The facility caters to diverse cultural, linguistic, and spiritual needs.
