Health Match BC invites physicians to join a full-time rural family medicine role adjacent to Port Hardy Hospital within an Island Health facility. You will provide comprehensive primary and emergency care across the Mount Waddington region in a collaborative, team-based setting with family physicians, NPs, RNs, social workers and visiting specialists.

The position offers clinic hours 9:00–17:00 with weekday walk-in clinics and rotating Saturday shifts, plus shared ED, inpatient and long-term

Role and Facility Information

Excellent family practice opportunity located adjacent to Port Hardy Hospital within a modern, dynamic group practice in a fully owned and operated Island Health facility. This is an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive rural family medicine and collaborate with neighboring physicians to deliver full-spectrum primary care and emergency services throughout the Mount Waddington region.

Physicians practice within a collaborative, team-based care model at the Port Hardy Primary Health Care Centre, working alongside family physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, and visiting specialists who provide outreach services to enhance access to specialty care throughout the region.

This interdisciplinary environment fosters shared care, continuity of care, and improved patient outcomes while supporting physician wellness and sustainable practice. Physicians enjoy the variety and autonomy that comes with rural medicine while benefiting from the support of an experienced and collegial healthcare team.

The Emergency Department and 12-bed acute care hospital provide a broad scope of services, including Indigenous Health, adult inpatient and outpatient care, rehabilitation services, laboratory services, ambulatory care, diagnostic imaging including general radiology and ultrasound, 21 residential care beds, and low-risk Indigenous midwifery maternity services. This position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding rural practice, develop broad clinical skills, and make a meaningful impact in a welcoming coastal community.

Hours of Work

Full-time rural family medicine practice, including community-based primary care at the Port Hardy Primary Care Centre with regular clinic hours Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekday walk-in clinics, and participation in a rotating Saturday walk-in clinic. Physicians also provide shared Emergency Department, inpatient, and long-term care coverage at Port Hardy Hospital, with opportunities for outreach services to surrounding communities throughout the region.

• Relocation Funding Available $up to a maximum of $15,000 (amount based on location relocating from)
• Recruitment Incentive $up to a maximum of $20,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Other Benefits/Incentives CME: $1,320/annum for 2 year or less, $2,200/annum year 3-4 and $4,400/annum after 4 years in the community.
