Port Alice Health Centre on Vancouver Island is seeking a Family Physician to join a team delivering primary and urgent care to a small coastal community. The practice includes urgent care, laboratory, social work, mental health, public health and home nursing support, with outreach to the Kyuquot community.

Holidays and schedule are negotiable, with clinic hours typically 09:00–16:30 Monday to Thursday and potential outreach work to Kyuquot on Fridays.

Role and Facility Information

The Port Alice Health Centre has an opening for a Family Physician to join a team of dedicated health care professionals providing primary and urgent care services to a community of 1,200 residents. Port Alice Health Centre services includes urgent care, laboratory, social work, mental health, public health and home nursing care. This is a collegial, collaborative physician practice, with a shared patient panel. Port Alice physicians also provide outreach service to the remote indigenous community of Kyuquot. In addition to primary care services, Port Alice Health Center simultaneously operates an Urgent Care service in conjunction with remote certified nurses. Casual rural emergency department shifts are also available (optional) in the neighboring communities of Port Hardy, Port McNeill and Cormorant Island. Port Alice is the gateway to the rugged and pristine west coat, and is the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts. The community enjoys a full array of services including shopping, a library, excellent restaurants, regular community based events and a fully equipped recreational complex. Compensation Type Clinical Service Contract

Benefits and Incentives

May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:

• Retention Premium 23.38%
• Retention Flat Fee $36,232
• Relocation Funding Available $up to a maximum of $15,000 (Depending on location moving from)
• Recruitment Incentive $up to a maximum of $20,000 (pro-rated based on FTE)
• Other Benefits/Incentives CME: $1,320/annum 2 years or less, $3,520/annum year 3-4 and $5,720/annum after 4 years in the community
