Job summary

CPKC in Winnipeg is offering a Co‑op opportunity within its Network Services Center Finance & Accounting team. The program targets students pursuing business education to gain hands-on exposure to the accounting cycle, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end reporting, and billing.

Expect departmental rotations and collaboration with accounting professionals to build practical finance experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a recognized university program with a preference for a background in Accounting or Finance.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel and Visio.
• Project work experience showcasing ability to work independently, and as part of a team, managing expectations, and prioritizing work-based requirements.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Co‑op program at CPKC will give you an opportunity to gain large public‑company experience. You will collaborate on projects that require detailed analytical review, and progress real‑time business and process improvements. The job requires an aptitude for data mining, analytics, problem solving, and a drive for collaboration.

CPKC is currently hiring Co‑op Students pursuing their business education to join our Network Services Center (NSC) Finance & Accounting team in Winnipeg!

The Co‑op students accepted into our program will gain actionable hands‑on experience that will become the building blocks to support their future career. Your training and skillsets will be enhanced through departmental rotations. These mini transitions will allow you to work alongside various accounting professionals, gain knowledge of our business, and see first‑hand the accounting cycle of accounts receivable, accounts payable, month‑end reporting and billing.

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
