The Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program is an aircrew training program to prepare pilots, Air Combat Systems Operators, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. As part of the SkyAlyne Team, KF Aerospace will operate an Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) acting as the Military Type Certificate Holder for the five fleets of training aircraft, manage flight operations and dispatch in Southport, MB, provide maintenance, repair, and overhaul services (MRO) on the CT145 Expeditor II (KA260), and provide Contracted Qualified Flight Instructors (CQFI) and training services for the AFT-ME program

JOB OVERVIEW

The ME Training Transition Manager is responsible for the successful implementation of the FAcT AFT-ME and AFT-RW Training Systems which includes the flying operations and Ground Based Training Systems (GBTS) systems, the design and administration of the course critique program, direction of the implementation of courseware changes, coordination of staff training requirements, and ensuring that the Training Information Management System (TIMS) and Ground-Based Training Devices are integrated and various training programs are supported. This also includes the supervision, guidance, and development of Training Administrators to ensure effective scheduling and maintenance of student, instructor and course administration information within the entire Flight Operations system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Training Transition Manager position will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Day to day performance of Training Administrators
  • Training Administrators are properly trained in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) in support of training
  • Work schedules for Training Administrators are administered
  • Assist with the completion of annual performance reviews
  • Standard Operating Procedures and checklists are maintained
  • Resources are being managed to meet deadlines
  • Assist with the troubleshooting of training administration problems and develop, communicate and implement resolutions
Training Administration
  • Coordinate the training requirements for new hires, and provide ongoing individual and group training
  • Create course critique and training survey questions and forms
  • Develop procedures and design workflows for implementing course critiques and the training survey program for all training, for students and instructors
  • Provide end of training summary reports to flight operations staff
  • Ensure that the FAcT AFT-ME course critique program and training survey program meets contractual requirements
  • Assist the QA Manager with survey administration in support of the QA plan, and participate in training improvement meetings
  • Ensure Training Administrator Lead is providing adequate support for Student Services:
    • Creation and data entry of student, assignment of username/password, scheme, and training serial
    • Distribution of course welcome notification, joining instructions, and pre-course surveys
    • Data entry for student attributes; photograph
    • Change of student disposition and notification to outside agencies when required
    • QA for student training records on completion of course
    • Removal of student training records after five years for those not involved in review of redress
  • Ensure Training Administrator Lead is providing adequate support for instructor/administrator services:
    • Creation and data entry for instructors and administrators
    • Username/password, scheme, and workgroup assignment
    • Data entry for personal attributes; photograph
    • Change of disposition when required
    • Support for course administration to include
    • Creation and maintenance of training serial templates for all TPs, including access to versioned courseware
    • Creation and adjustment of schedule training serials
    • Creation and maintenance of student currencies
  • Ensure that ME ground school training programs are being managed for serials prior to commencement of flying activities including:
    • Coordinate conflict resolution with training supervisors
    • Modify ground training activities as required to meet training requirements
  • Ensure adequate support is being provided for training administration:
    • Creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for training administration
    • Creation and maintenance of instructor currencies, qualifications and requirements
    • Adjusting instructor schemes and currencies as required
    • Create and maintain Knowledge Base and ensure that proper viewing privileges are assigned to schemes/individuals
    • Maintenance of courseware and version integrity in the LMS and ensure that students are provided the correct courseware version
    • Creation and management of forms and templates
    • Creation and maintenance of workflows within TIMS
    • Creation and maintenance of regularly used reports and ad hoc reports
    • Creation and maintenance of training packages for TIMS and LMS, as applicable for students, instructors, supervisors and administrators
    • Provision of training for new staff as directed by the GBTS Manager.
    • Creation and maintenance of on-line help resources for TIMS and LMS.
    • Provision of assistance to users during normal working hours and TIMS and LMS related issues.
    • Maintenance and control of individual access and privileges in TIMS and LMS for access to edit, add and delete content and media.
    • Creation and management of user access to development server for Subject Matter Expert and courseware developers.
    • Be prepared and be capable to back-up flight operations when required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to achieve the RCAF qualification as a CQFI
    • Previous military experience as an RCAF B Category QFI
    • Previous experience instructing on RCAF RW and ME training aircraft
    • Previous experience in an RCAF leadership and staff officer role
  • Post-Secondary schooling in education or administration preferred
  • Strong computer skills with:
    • Experience in database applications
    • Proficient in Word
    • Proficient Excel skills
  • Previous military experience or ability to adapt to military-style protocols
  • Highly organized and able to function in a dynamic environment
  • Detail oriented and takes pride in accuracy
  • Experience with AFT-RW considered an asset
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance through DND. This will require a detailed personal history application along with fingerprinting
LOCATION

This position is located in Southport, MB. Hybrid work options available after the probationary period. Occasional travel is required, mostly to our head office in Ottawa, ON.

SALARY

The wage band is Level 17, $133.003 to $166,254 with annual premiums of $15,000 upon achieving a CQFI flying category and $10,000 for having previous military experience. The expertise and technical skill level of the candidate is assessed during the selection process for placement within the band. Note: The salary range maximum signifies full job knowledge.
