The Site

This is a regulated oilfield waste facility in the Fort McMurray region, taking drilling waste, contaminated soil, tank bottoms, sludges, and produced water from upstream and oil sands operations. It is not garbage. No household trash, no curbside collection, no residential traffic. Trucks and vac units come through the gate all day, and everything that arrives or leaves is weighed, manifested, tracked, and logged against the site's operating approval.

From your first shift

  • Any oilfield, plant, water, or waste experience: produced water, water treatment, water transfer, disposal wells, or a water plant
  • H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS-2020, or Ground Disturbance Level 2
  • Landfill, waste management, or well operations background
Why People Take This Job

Facility operator is not a trade you can take at school. Operators get built on site, and this client is willing to build one. You start on the gate and on the ground, and as you prove out you take on the permits, the plant balancing, and the compliance side, until it is your facility to run. The rotation is a real 14 and 14 at home in Fort McMurray, so no camp, no flights, and no room to pay for on your days off.

What We Offer
  • $30.00 to $45.00 per hour, based on experience and how fast you pick it up
  • Training provided on site, with no landfill or oilfield background required to start
  • Overtime available based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance plus AD&D with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health: drugs, hospital, vision, and paramedical including mental health
  • Dental coverage, including orthodontic coverage for children
  • Travel insurance, plus ongoing training and career development support
