We work across Canada in mining, construction, oil and gas, turnarounds, and shutdowns. Dedicated to sustainable employment, we emphasize career opportunities and empowerment for Indigenous communities across Canada. Join us and contribute to building a more inclusive future.

The Role

GrizzlyTrek is seeking experienced Dozer Operators to join our value-added client's team on heavy civil earthworks projects in the Fort McMurray region. This is a full time rotational position at $35.00 to $40.00 per hour to start, flying in and out of Calgary or Edmonton, with camp room and board provided.

This is long term work. Our client runs a continuous project pipeline across the region, so operators move from one spread to the next instead of chasing a single season and finding another job at freeze up. You will be stripping and ripping, cutting to fill, building pads, leases, and roads, and working reclamation, on machines from D6T class up to D10.

What You'll Do
  • Strip and rip material, slope, cut to fill, and place topsoil on lease and pad builds, road building, and reclamation projects
  • Hold grade and slope to project specifications and grade plans without someone standing over you
  • Work all ground conditions, including soft ground and muskeg, without putting the machine at risk
  • Complete routine equipment inspections covering tracks, fluids, lights, and brakes, and report defects early
  • Operate a 2-way radio and keep clear communication with supervisors, other operators, and ground personnel
  • Complete JSAs and FLHAs each shift and follow site safe work procedures and PPE policy
  • Stay aware of surrounding equipment and personnel, shovel out tracks, and assist ground crew as needed
What You Bring
  • 3 or more years of recent dozer seat time on D6T, D8, D9, or D10 class machines in heavy civil earthworks, construction, road building, or mining
  • Proven experience stripping overburden, ripping, placing topsoil, and completing reclamation work
  • Experience on all types of ground conditions, including soft ground
  • Valid driver's licence and CSA approved safety boots, minimum 6 inches and fully laceable
  • Valid CSO, BSO, CSTS, or OSSA Regional; Intermediate First Aid with CPR and AED; H2S Alive; in class Bear Awareness; and Ground Disturbance
  • Physically conditioned to repetitively and safely lift up to 50 lbs, and able to clear the pre-employment screening and Fitness-to-Work Assessment above
  • Able to live in camp, work 12 hour shifts on days and nights, and handle outdoor work in all weather, noise, and vibration
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working to technical specifications and grade plans on roads, oilfield leases, and pads
  • Ability to finish or trim grade
  • GPS machine control experience
  • Current oil sands or regional site orientation already on file
Work Environment

The work is on active heavy civil earthworks projects in the Fort McMurray region of northern Alberta. You fly in from Calgary or Edmonton, live in camp with room and board covered, and work 12 hour shifts through days and nights on a 14/7 or 21/7 rotation. Expect outdoor work in rain, snow, heat, and cold, equipment noise and vibration, and hands on labour duties alongside seat time.

What We Offer
  • $35.00 to $40.00 per hour to start, with room to move up as you prove out on site
  • Long term work on a continuous project pipeline, not a single season spread
  • Flights provided, flying in and out of Calgary or Edmonton
  • Camp room and board provided, so the rate is what you keep
  • Opportunities for overtime based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance: $100,000 employee / $10,000 spouse / $5,000 per child
  • AD&D insurance with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health care: drugs, hospital, hearing, orthotics, nursing
  • Paramedical services: chiro, physio, massage, mental health (annual coverage)
  • Vision care: glasses, contacts, laser surgery, and exams
  • Dental care: 80% basic ($2,500), 50% major ($2,500), $2,500 ortho for children
  • Travel insurance: up to $5,000,000 per incident (trips up to 90 days)
  • Ongoing training and career development support

Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions.
