Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician in Windsor, Ontario. The role covers inspecting, maintaining, and building new structures, with on-site responsibilities and on-call shifts for weekend and night work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and build new buildings.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections at various sites.
• Effectively work with a variety of hand/power tools.
• Pool knowledge with other Facility Maintenance Technicians to accomplish complex projects.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Keep track of company records, fuel logs, and time invoices.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
• Situations arise for emergency repairs such as floods and disasters. On call shifts for weekends and nights paid for.
• Working independently to complete tasks, and weekly work plans.
• Creative problem solving, trouble shooting, and proactive task completion.

Facility Maintenance Technician Primary Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain and build new buildings.
• Perform general maintenance, installation, repair and service.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections at various sites.
• Effectively work with a variety of hand/power tools.
• Pool knowledge with other Facility Maintenance Technicians to accomplish complex projects.
• Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Keep track of company records, fuel logs, and time invoices. Company fuel card provided.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Facility Maintenance Technician Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience in any of the following areas: electrical, A/C, HVAC, plumbing or landscaping
• Valid driver's license
• D.O.T certification (can be sponsored by U-Haul)
• Must be 18 or older

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
