Job summary

The Corporation of The Town of Milton is seeking a Maintenance in a municipal facility to perform daily upkeep and minor repairs across multiple venues including arenas, pools and meeting spaces. The role requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends and to ensure safe, compliant operation of building systems.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, customer service, scheduling support, and basic repairs.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 education.
• Minimum one year of maintenance experience in municipal facility, arena, pool or recreation centre.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License Class G2/G with satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of facility operations including ice resurfacer operations, pool backwash and fouling procedures, HVAC systems, BAS programs and Fire systems.
• Understanding of fire safety and risk management.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Able to work in a team and independently as required.
• Able to perform activities including lifting over 40 lbs, climbing, and working at heights.

Responsibilities

• Performs regular maintenance and cleaning within the facility and some outdoor areas.
• Promotes safe working practices; ensures compliance with regulations and mitigates risk.
• Operates ice resurfacer and ice maintenance tasks as required.
• Monitors pool filtration and chemistry; ensures compliance with health regulations.
• Open/close the facility and ensure safe operation of systems; respond to emergencies.
• Provide customer service and assist in program support; manage bookings and rentals.
• Set up/clean up and conversions based on programming needs; support staff as required.
• Complete risk assessments and perform minor repairs to keep equipment functioning.
