Job summary

District of West Vancouver seeks a Facilities Project Coordinator for a 12‑month, full‑time role. Reporting to the Facilities Asset Project Manager, you will create charters, manage drawings and specs, and coordinate architects, engineers and contractors on capital facility projects.

The candidate will develop and implement plans for renovations, energy management and greenhouse gas reduction, monitor progress, and prepare cost reports and project close-out documentation.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or trades qualification related to building trades with ~2 years coordination experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Project.
  • BC Driver's License and vehicle required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create project documentation (charters, drawings, specs, implementation plans).
  • Coordinate architects, engineers and other professionals on major capital facility projects.
  • Develop project plans for renovations and renewal, energy management and GHG reduction.
  • Implement projects with in-house teams or contractors.

Facilities Project Coordinator

(Temporary, Full-Time – 12 months)

Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. The District of West Vancouver has an opening for a temporary, full‑time Facilities Project Coordinator.

Reporting to the Facilities Asset Project Manager, this position will be responsible for:

  • Creating project documentation including: project charters, drawings and specifications, and project implementation plans for capital facility projects;
  • Coordinating architects, engineers, and other professionals in the development of major capital facility projects;
  • Developing project plans associated with renovations, facilities capital renewal plan, energy management, and greenhouse gas reduction projects;
  • Implementing projects utilizing in‑house and/or contractors;
  • Tracking project progress, reporting on project status, major issues/obstacles encountered and making recommendations regarding projects scope changes;
  • Developing and implementing corrective action plans to mitigate impact to project schedules and overall business objectives;
  • Keeping stakeholders aware of project status and ensures effective communication channels are in place;
  • Coordinating and/or monitors the commissioning, testing, training, and documentation of various systems related to the respective projects;
  • Post‑commissioning of building systems on an ongoing basis to ensure optimum performance;
  • Coordinating the preparation of the project close‑out documentation, including O&M Manuals, warranties and archiving the project records;
  • Monitoring contractor performance and insuring project conform to terms and conditions of agreements;
  • Coordinating and arranging furniture and equipment moves and installations;
  • Preparing budget reports and monthly project cost reports;
  • Preparing confidential correspondence, documents and reports;
  • Updating the long term facilities renewal database; and
  • Other related duties as required

The successful candidate has completed: a Diploma in field related to architecture, civil or mechanical engineering or trades qualification in a building trade, plus 2 years of coordination experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Project), a BC Driver’s License and a vehicle are required. Experience in the use of AutoCAD will be considered an asset. Individuals who are currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a related diploma program are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status: EXEMPT – Temporary, Full‑Time

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Salary: $89,200- $100,400 per annum plus 14% in lieu of benefits
