Job summary

Decibel is seeking a senior facilities manager in Saskatchewan to oversee maintenance, grounds, equipment, and preventive maintenance programs for multiple sites. The role focuses on ensuring reliable operation of HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems while coordinating internal staff and external trades.

The position requires a strong track record in building management, OHS compliance, and budget oversight, with a hands-on approach to keep facilities running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of trade or building management experience.
• Proficient knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations (OHS).
• Ability to lead a maintenance team and coordinate external trades.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate facility operations and maintenance.
• Oversee installation, maintenance and repair of infrastructure and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Support engineering with system installations and retrofits.
• Manage administrative services including safety inspections, security, and landscaping.
• Monitor PM program, approve work orders, and manage contractor relationships.
• Develop and manage facility budgets and capital expenditure planning.

This role is a newly created position and represents a new vacancy within the organization.

Role Purpose/ Summary:

To focus on overseeing our existing maintenance programs and initiatives; taking responsibility for the physical buildings, grounds, equipment, and ensuring excellence in preventive maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

• Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operations of all facility infrastructure, equipment and physical property.
• Responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure including machinery, equipment and electrical and mechanical systems (including but not limited to cooling towers, RO water system, general HVAC (RTU's, HRVs) and Micro-cool humidification system.
• Support Engineering team with DHU and BMS system installation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Collaborate with Engineering team to set up and install equipment and infrastructure for studies and retrofits.
• Plan, organize and direct administrative services such as signage, maintenance, parking, safety inspections, security, snow removal and landscaping.
• Inspect all building systems and equipment regularly to identify and correct any deficiencies and problems.
• Oversee and direct the maintenance team to ensure operational maintenance tasks are completed as scheduled, including issuing work orders.
• Oversee the Preventive Maintenance program to ensure all PM's are completed and documented as scheduled.
• Verification of all maintenance tasks, building systems and equipment prior to signoff to ensure that tasks are completed properly and, in their entirety.
• Troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical problems when detected and establish a corrective / repair plan.
• Establish corrective / repair plan, including scheduling maintenance persons and/or contractors and submitting budgetary requests as needed.
• Maintain parts inventory and critical spares lists.
• Inspect and commission the boilers in winter and all air conditioning units and cooling towers in summer.
• Collaborate with senior management to plan and manager aspects of the facility's operational budget, resource allocation and capex budgets.
• Maintain security system and fire suppression system.
• Develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
• Working alongside HR, to hire and oversee training and supervision of maintenance staff as required.
• Maintain contractor relationships and be the main point of contact for all external trades.
• Provide project management for all on-site projects as it relates to the infrastructure, equipment and physical property.
• Provide detailed project management updates regularly, time frames, costs and any project notables.
• Other duties as required by your direct manager.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of trade or building management experience required
• HVAC and/or Plumbing Certification is considered an asset
• Building Operator Certification (BOC) is considered an asset
• CPR and First Aid Certification are considered an asset
• Proficient knowledge in the following areas: Government regulations specific to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and City bylaws that pertain to building operations and maintenance
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and collaborate in a team environment
• Ability to lift upwards of 40 to 50lbs repetitively
• Knowledge of the cannabis industry is an asset but is not required
