Job summary

York Regional Police is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to provide mechanical and electrical maintenance across its facilities, including tower sites and emergency power units. The role covers preventive, corrective, and emergency work to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The position requires a 2-year college diploma in Building Maintenance and at least 2 years of related maintenance experience. Hybrid remote work options may be discussed during recruitment.

Qualifications

• Two (2) year college diploma in building maintenance or related field.
• Minimum two years of maintenance or related experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair skills for building systems and equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
• Safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements, codes, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on building systems and equipment.
• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and related components.
• Carry out scheduled maintenance per plans, manufacturer recommendations, and codes.
• Respond to service requests and faults, identify root causes and complete repairs.
• Monitor operations and report deficiencies for proactive maintenance planning.
• Maintain records of inspections, work performed, materials used, and parts needed.
