Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Where You Will Be Working

Nasittuq supports operations across the North Warning System (NWS), a network of remote sites located throughout Canada's Arctic. Based in Ottawa, you will lead engineering and life cycle management activities supporting critical facilities infrastructure across Canada's North, ensuring the continued reliability and sustainability of the North Warning System.

You will contribute directly to major engineering initiatives, capital projects, and long-term asset management strategies while shaping the future performance of the North Warning System.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and supervise Facilities Engineering and Life Cycle Management teams supporting North Warning System infrastructure and operations.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development to engineering and technical staff.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, security requirements, workplace conduct standards, attendance expectations, and hybrid work practices.
  • Coordinate technical meetings and engineering discussions with customers, stakeholders, consultants, and project teams.
  • Oversee the development of engineering project documentation, including project scopes, business case analyses, risk assessments, design packages, change control documentation, and cost estimates.
  • Review and approve engineering designs and technical deliverables supporting facilities infrastructure projects.
  • Present engineering recommendations and project solutions during technical review meetings and customer briefings.
  • Lead the life cycle management of facilities systems and infrastructure, including maintenance strategy reviews, reliability analysis, obsolescence management, and asset replacement planning.
  • Monitor equipment performance trends and identify opportunities for system optimization, modernization, and operational improvements.
  • Ensure strategic spare parts planning and inventory management practices support operational readiness and minimize downtime.
  • Support project managers during project planning, implementation, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Conduct engineering inspections, site assessments, research activities, and project support visits at North Warning System locations.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Sustainment, Compliance, and Project Management teams to support program objectives.
  • Perform additional duties and initiatives in support of Nasittuq's mission and long-term sustainment strategy.
Credentials

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology Diploma, Engineering Technician Diploma, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), Certified Technician (C.Tech.), or equivalent professional designation.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of engineering design, facilities engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related technical experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of supervisory, team lead, project coordination, or people leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting large infrastructure programs, facilities systems, or asset management initiatives.
  • Experience delivering projects for the Government of Canada, defence organizations, or large industrial operations is considered an asset.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of facility systems, building systems, power generation systems, bulk fuel storage systems, and building automation and control systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design principles, life cycle management, project management methodologies, and technical documentation development.
  • Strong leadership, employee development, coaching, and team management abilities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong project planning, organizational, and prioritization capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer relationship skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
