Job summary

Smith Steel & Fabrication is actively seeking a skilled Fabricator to join the team. The role involves reading schematics and blueprints and fabricating metal parts and structures per customer requests.

You will be part of a safety-conscious, detail-oriented workforce dedicated to quality and professionalism. You will contribute to shop projects, read and interpret drawings, perform GMP-compliant work, and ensure accurate documentation and timely completion of daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Reads schematics and blueprints to fabricate per customer request.
• Demonstrates MIG welding to required standards.
• Performs quality control checks on finished parts and assemblies.
• Collaborates with designers, engineers and product development.

Responsibilities

• Layout and fitting of parts per drawings.
• Operates brake, shear and saw equipment.
• Welds to CWB standards and polishes welds.
• Assists with shop projects and maintenance.
• Reads blueprints/drawings/sketches and ensures GMP compliance.
• Documents daily work and completes paperwork accurately.

As a division of Tri-Mach Group of Companies Inc., our business units work alongside one another to provide a single source for customers to elevate their operations - fulfilling their fabrication, millwrighting, electrical, process piping and automation needs.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fabricator to join our dynamic team. The Fabricator is responsible for reading & understanding schematics and blueprints and fabricating metal parts and structures per the customer request. We are looking to add someone to our team who is eager to learn, detail-orientated and a team player. Our Fabricators promotes a positive company image through safety, quality, consistency, and professionalism.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Layout (fitting)
• Use of brake, shear and saw
• Use of iron worker
• Welding to CWB standards
• Polishing/finishing welds
• Assist with various shop projects, including shop maintenance
• Fabrication of various jobs/projects
• Able to read blueprints/drawing/sketches
• Knowledge of GMP guidelines and practices
• Read and understand schematics and blueprints
• Conduct quality control checks
• Work closely with designers & engineers & product development
• Accurate and timely completion of all daily paperwork
• Completion of High School or equivalent
• Metal Fabricator/Fitter 437A or equivalent
• Previous 8-10 years of fabrication experience
• MIG welding experience. CWB tickets considered a strong asset
• You have a get it done attitude and are skilled at removing barriers

• You have the ability to think beyond the needs of the customer to point out errors and potential issues
• You are able to adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions, cope effectively with complexity and change, quickly understand and absorb new information and respond appropriately
• You are a straight shooter who gets to the point and can clearly communicate in both oral and written form
