Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service to guests.
  • Assist with reservations, seating, and directing guests within the hotel.
  • Maintain a clean, organized dining area and service spaces.
  • Assist guests with menu selections and beverage recommendations.
  • Process orders and payments using POS systems accurately.
  • Prepare Grab & Go items and specialty beverages per quality standards.
  • Support with restocking and maintaining service readiness.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.

Job description

Delta Hotels by Marriott Kamloops is looking for a friendly, energetic, and guest-focused Food & Beverage Support (Barista) to support the daily operation of our restaurant, lounge, and Grab & Go outlets.

In this role, you will help create exceptional guest experiences by welcoming guests, maintaining clean and organized dining areas, supporting food and beverage service, and assisting with the overall flow of operations. Working closely with the Food & Beverage team, you will play an important role in ensuring guests receive efficient, professional, and memorable service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in delivering outstanding hospitality.

What You’ll Do

  • Create a welcoming and positive guest experience by providing friendly, professional, and attentive service.
  • Support restaurant, lounge, and Grab & Go operations by greeting guests, managing seating, assisting with reservations, and directing guests throughout the hotel as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dining environment by bussing and resetting tables and ensuring service areas are well maintained.
  • Assist guests with menu selections and provide recommendations based on food and beverage offerings.
  • Process guest orders and payments accurately using POS systems and hotel procedures.
  • Prepare and present Grab & Go food and beverage items, including coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages, in accordance with quality, presentation, and food safety standards.
  • Replenish food displays, service items, and supplies to maintain operational readiness throughout service periods.
  • Maintain knowledge of hotel services, amenities, and local attractions to assist guests effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other hotel departments to support guest satisfaction and operational success.
  • Follow all food safety, health and safety, and hotel policies and procedures.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous food and beverage, restaurant, hospitality, customer service, or barista experience preferred. Experience preparing espresso-based specialty beverages is considered a strong asset.
  • Serving It Right and FOODSAFE certifications required.
  • Strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to anticipate guest needs and provide thoughtful food and beverage recommendations.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, and ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computers, POS systems, and technology.
  • Excellent command of the English language; additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

This position operates in a fast-paced food and beverage environment with varying service demands and frequent guest interaction. Team members must be comfortable working mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays while maintaining a high level of guest service and professionalism.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work in food service and hospitality environments while maintaining quality, safety, and service standards.
