Job summary

Hotel Equities is seeking a dedicated Assistant Outlet Manager for Courtyard by Marriott in Nanaimo, BC. This full-time leadership role oversees Bistro, kitchen, and banquet operations, guiding on-floor service and assisting culinary teams to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

You will manage shifts, supervise staff, and coordinate events while maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Flexibility with early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• At least one year of previous food and beverage experience in a restaurant, hotel, banquet, or culinary operation.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred.
• Experience working across front-of-house, kitchen, and banquet operations is an asset.
• Strong communication, organization, and guest-service skills.
• Willingness to lead on the floor and coach others.
• Knowledge of food safety and cost controls is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with opening, closing, and daily supervision of the Bistro, kitchen, bar, patio, and banquet areas.
• Lead shifts, assign duties, and maintain clear communication between FOH and culinary teams.
• Greet guests, serve, clear tables, process payments, and assist during busy periods.
• Support culinary operations with food preparation and line coverage as needed.
• Monitor food quality, portioning, and menu standards; coordinate event setup via Banquet Event Orders.
• Participate in scheduling, recruitment, onboarding, and training.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, responsible service of alcohol, and hotel policies.
