Job summary

Douglas College is seeking an On-Call Simulation Technician to support our experiential learning program. You will work across simulation laboratories, suites, and home health labs, preparing, maintaining and operating medical simulators and task trainers to ensure equipment is ready for classes and clinical scenarios.

You will assist faculty and students with the effective use of simulation technologies, train users, and help troubleshoot equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health, technology, communications or related field.
• Minimum three years of related work experience in a health-care environment or simulation lab in education.
• CHSOS or CHSE certification preferred; or certification within first 12 months of hire.
• Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience considered.
• Knowledge of clinical/medical terminology and lab processes is essential.
• Experience operating a variety of simulation equipment (patient simulators, task trainers, etc.).

What It Takes

• Bachelor’s degree in a health, technology, communications or other related field at an accredited, post-secondary institution;
• Minimum three years of related work experience in a health-care related environment in a clinical healthcare setting and/or simulation laboratory setting in an education institution;
• Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist ( CHSOS ) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator ( CHSE ) certification preferred; or certification within the first 12 months of hire;
• An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
• Knowledge and comprehension of clinical/medical terminology and lab processes is essential
• Experience operating a variety of simulation equipment, including patient simulators, task trainers, medical/healthcare related equipment and technology is essential;

Additional Information

• This OnCall (Varied hours per week) position is available starting September 14, 2026.
• Hours of work will typically be scheduled Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
• Shift days and times may change depending on operational needs.
• Evening and occasional weekend work may be required.
• The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; and will be required to work at all Douglas College campuses.
