Job summary

Douglas College invites applications for an On-Call Healthcare Simulation Technician to support experiential learning across Simulation Laboratories, Simulation Suites, Home Health Labs and Therapeutic Communication Suites.

The successful candidate will prepare and maintain equipment, train faculty and students in simulation technologies, and assist in daily lab operations. A health/tech/education background and hands-on lab experience are required or strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, technology, communications or related field.
  • Minimum three years of related work experience in a health-care related environment in a clinical healthcare setting and/or simulation laboratory setting in an education institution.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist ( CHSOS ) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator ( CHSE ) certification preferred; or certification within the first 12 months of hire.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of clinical/medical terminology and lab processes is essential
  • Experience operating a variety of simulation equipment, including patient simulators, task trainers, medical/healthcare related equipment and technology is essential;

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain equipment and simulation resources across our labs and suites.
  • Support daily lab operations and coordination across campuses.
  • Train faculty and students in the effective use of simulation technologies.

If you have experience with healthcare equipment, simulation technologies, high-fidelity patient simulators, and task trainers, this is an opportunity to put your skills to work in a dynamic learning environment. Additional Information
  • This OnCall (Varied hours per week) position is available starting September 14, 2026.
  • Hours of work will typically be scheduled Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.
  • Shift days and times may change depending on operational needs.
  • Evening and occasional weekend work may be required.
  • The position is located at the Coquitlam campus; and will be required to work at all Douglas College campuses.
