Qualifications

Three to five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating experiential learning, student placements, practicum programs, work-integrated learning, or related educational programs.
Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, employers, government agencies, community organizations, or industry partners.
Experience providing support and guidance to students, faculty, and external partners within post-secondary, public sector, justice, or related environments.

Responsibilities

Coordinate experiential learning activities including student placements, practicums, field experiences, and other work-integrated learning opportunities for CJHS programs, ensuring alignment with academic, regulatory, safety, and partner requirements.
Build and maintain strategic partnerships with policing agencies, correctional institutions, government organizations, regulatory bodies, conservation and enforcement partners, community organizations, and other industry stakeholders to support student learning.
Support specialized learning environments by coordinating operation, scheduling, maintenance, and continuous improvement of CJHS labs and simulation spaces, ensuring health, safety, and standards compliance.
Provide guidance and support to students and faculty throughout experiential learning activities, including orientation, preparation, documentation, risk management, and issue resolution.
Contribute to cross-functional collaboration by supporting experiential learning initiatives across CJHS, including backup support for placement and laboratory activities as required.
Maintain program and placement administration through recordkeeping, compliance monitoring, reporting, and participation in program development and accreditation processes.

About the Position

Reporting to the Associate Dean, Centre for Justice & Human Services (CJHS), the Experiential Learning Coordinator supports the delivery of high-quality experiential learning opportunities across the Centre with a focus on Justice programs including Policing, Corrections, Bachelor of Criminal Justice, Natural Resource Compliance, and Conservation Enforcement programs.

The Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the institution, students, and external partners, fostering collaborative relationships that enhance student learning and support workforce readiness. The role contributes to the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of experiential learning initiatives, including placements, simulations, field-based learning, and specialized learning environments.

Working in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment, the Coordinator provides expertise in experiential learning practices, supports student success, and helps advance strategic partnerships that strengthen educational outcomes and community engagement. The position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while responding to evolving program and industry needs.

Key Responsibilities Of This Position Include

Support specialized learning environments by coordinating the operation, scheduling, maintenance, and continuous improvement of CJHS labs and simulation spaces, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and operational standards.
Provide guidance and support to students and faculty throughout experiential learning activities, including orientation, preparation, documentation processes, risk management, and issue resolution.
Contribute to cross-functional collaboration by supporting experiential learning initiatives across the Centre for Justice & Human Services, including providing backup support for placement and laboratory activities as required.
Maintain program and placement administration through accurate recordkeeping, compliance monitoring, reporting, and participation in program development, accreditation processes, and special projects that support continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Education, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience coordinating experiential learning, student placements, practicum programs, work-integrated learning, community engagement initiatives, or related educational programs.
Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, employers, government agencies, community organizations, or industry partners.
Experience providing support and guidance to students, faculty, and external partners within a post-secondary, public sector, justice, community services, or related environment.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities, manage complex administrative processes, and meet competing deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using databases, student information systems, placement management systems, or other technology platforms to support program administration and reporting.
A valid Class 5 driver's license and the ability to travel locally to partner agencies and placement sites, as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within post-secondary education, particularly in experiential learning, work-integrated learning, practicum, internship, or placement administration.
Knowledge of policing, corrections, criminal justice, conservation enforcement, regulatory compliance, or related public safety sectors.
Experience supporting specialized learning environments, laboratories, simulations, field training, or applied learning activities.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, privacy requirements, risk management practices, and workplace health and safety principles related to student placements.
Experience participating in program review, accreditation, quality assurance, or continuous improvement initiatives.

Salary

AUPE Class Level 9 Step 2 $56,863.18 per annum.
