Job summary

UNB Geodesy & Geomatics Engineering in Fredericton, NB invites applications for an Agreements Officer on a full-time, 3-year term with hybrid work options. Reporting to the Director of Research Operations & Services, you will draft and review research agreements, negotiate terms, and ensure compliance with UNB policies and funding rules.

The role supports industry and government partnerships and manages deadlines.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in a relevant field is required or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience negotiating, drafting and reviewing research agreements
• Education and experience may be combined to meet requirements

Responsibilities

• Draft and review research agreements, including industry-sponsored, collaborative, funding, contribution, services and international agreements.
• Protect UNB researchers' IP rights and graduate student thesis/copyright ownership.
• Ensure liability, insurance, confidentiality, and indirect cost recovery clauses are in place.
• Negotiate and approve amendments to existing research agreements.
• Facilitate signing of research contracts in line with UNB policies.
• Assist researchers in preparing bid documents and budgets with indirect cost recovery policies.
• Monitor regulatory requirements related to agreements.
• Identify and resolve conflicts of interest and provide related training.
• Liaise with external agencies to support agreement processing.
• Collaborate with Deans, Chairs, and Directors on contract review.
• Coordinate with People & Culture on independent contractors and with Procurement onPOs.
