Job summary

Kent Companies is seeking an experienced concrete finisher to perform all aspects of finishing, formwork setup, and concrete placement on commercial projects. The role requires strong flatwork experience, proficiency with hand tools, and the ability to train teammates and operate in varying weather conditions.

Candidates must have 2-4+ years of finishing experience, a valid driver’s license, and be able to pass background and drug screening. U.S.

• 2-4+ years of consistent concrete finishing experience.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.
• Wear PPE including hard hat and high-visibility apparel as required.

Responsibilities

• Pour, level, and finish freshly placed concrete.
• Set up and finish to specified finishes with attention to detail and quality.
• Wear PPE and work in varying weather conditions outdoors and indoors.
• Communicate safety, quality, and problem-solving with crew lead, foreman, and superintendent.
• Safely operate power and hand tools on concrete sites.
• Build and dismantle formwork, set up shoring, and place concrete into forms.
• Use elevation specs and laser leveling to establish grade and grade lines.

Job description

Summary

The experienced finisher is expected to perform all parts of the process: grading, set up, custom formwork, concrete placement, cleaning tools, stripping formwork, and cutting slabs. An experienced finisher has noteworthy flatwork experience and demonstrates the ability to finish virtually any commercial concrete pour. Understanding the many variables affecting the finishing process is critical to success. An experienced finisher can effectively use all hand tools, including various finish trowels, floats, and brooms or rakes, to achieve a specified finish. Understanding and proficiently using specialized machines to expedite the finishing process is critical to this role. Communicating effectively with supervisors, teammates, and other trades is expected, as well as providing training and development to teammates who demonstrate motivation and interest in advancing their skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Pour, level, and finish freshly placed concrete.
• Understand and achieve specified finishes, with attention to detail and quality.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and additional protection as required by the task.
• Work in a variable environment, both indoors and outdoors. When required, work during inclement weather, including extreme heat/cold.
• Communicate effectively with your crew lead, foreman, and superintendent on safety, quality specifications, and problem-solving.
• Safely perform labor tasks on concrete construction sites, including using power and standard hand tools.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, high-visibility apparel, and additional protection as required by the task.
• Utilize measurement and carpentry skills to build custom formwork.
• Moving materials by hand, preparing for concrete placement, installation of shoring, and maintaining clean, well-organized job sites.
• Setting and placing forms, building and dismantling formwork, erecting and dismantling shoring, and placing concrete into forms.
• Utilize elevation specifications to accurately set up a laser leveling system and establish grade and grade lines.
